Royal Entomological Society Pavilion

High-performance studio microphones built in the UK

A space for inspiration and learning

This outdoor lab was the central feature of a Chelsea Flower Show garden. The convex roof, was inspired by the compound eye of an insect, spanning 7m in diameter and constructed using laser cut hexagonal panels.

All of the other elements of the lab, including the habitat panel walls, were fabricated to provide habitat and shelter for insects, inviting them in to facilitate study.

Collaboration with a trusted partner

We aim to forge long-standing relationships with clients, designers and fabricators. Trust and mutual respect are vital, especially when working on innovative projects.

We worked closely with the engineer and fabricator to create a parametric model that could be used for analysis, visualisation and fabrication. The model allowed the design to adapt instantly to changes such as increased sheet thickness.

A permanent home

We are delighted that the pavilion is living on beyond the Chelsea Flower Show. It has been relocated to Stratford Cross where it will be open to the public all year round and provide an important habitat for insects in an urban landscape.
