High-performance studio microphones built in the UK
A concept for a flat-packable, roving anechoic recording studio for BBC Radio 4 and The British Library, who were looking for design submissions as part of a competition.
Inspired by the magnificent geode rocks. These rocks tend to blend into their environments but once cracked open, reveal an entirely different material expression.
Inspired by these formations, we proposed a soft crystalline interior with triangular foam forms all pointing towards a lower, central lighting feature. The lighting feature was designed to be set into a low central table, evoking a warm and hospitable glow for high profile interviewees, however chaotic the exterior environment of the roving structure may be.
This is one of our earliest works, and was submitted in collaboration with our friends at Cinimod Studio and Ramboll.
If you are interested in commissioning a small or mobile structure with sound insulation qualities, please get in touch with us, we’d love to find out more.
